Tummy time

Here are the kiddos in tummy time. Noah's on the left in blue, Anna's in front, and Mattie's on the right. As you can see, it is getting quite difficult to tell Mattie and Anna apart. We've painted their toenails different colors to make sure, as the dots behind their ears wore off.

Mattie is learning to suck her thumb--handy as we have trouble keeping pacifiers around. Notice that she is also trying to lift her head. All three can do this now!

No one really likes tummy time, as Anna's face shows.

Noah is flashing his big blue eyes to signal his despair. Don't let his cuteness fool you. He almost certainly then started an eardrum-piercing wail. He's trying hard to crawl, which is amazing considering his due date was only two days ago!
In other news, we think we've found a great nanny. She starts tomorrow. Because day care for three is almost as expensive as a nanny and because the pediatrician has warned us that the babies should "live in a bubble until winter was over" (winter? we live in Southern California--as far as I can tell, the only difference is that occasionally it rains in the "winter" months), we felt like a nanny was our only option. I start back to work in December so technically, we could have postponed her start date. But Jon and I are exhausted, as the kiddos have only been able to go three hours between feedings, leaving only about 1.5 hours at a time in between feedings for sleep. Last night, they extended that to four hours, leaving us feeling especially refreshed. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that Monique is the perfect nanny for us! You'll notice that we only lasted about a week after my mom left to decide that we couldn't do the job ourselves. Thanks, Mom! She worked herself to the bone, filling our freezer with meals, feeding all three babies by herself every morning so Jon and I could sleep in, and doing all the laundry so fast that it made our heads spin.
And the final piece of news--we have a brand new, extra fancy dishwasher. Ours broke last week. Washing enough bottles for three babies by hand is a near fulltime job, and I don't recommend it. They should include in the books on multiples that you should just buy a new dishwasher when you buy the babies' crib, as yours is bound to break from overuse. The bad news is that the space in our cabinet is irregular so the new dishwasher doesn't fit. :( We've just got it sticking out four inches for now, and we'll deal with it later. It's always something . . . .
I hope you all are doing well!
Courtney
