Matilda's better too!

We had a sort of strange visit to the fetal echocardiologist today. This doctor was one we had not seen before, and she asked what had been done since our last echocardiogram. We explained that although we have had no procedures done, the girls have gotten better on their own. She replied, very skeptically, "Better on their own? In what way?" We explained how Anna's fluid had improved, and she remained skeptical, explaining that getting better was very rare, which we knew. She proceeded to essentially repeat the entire scan after the tech had already done it, and in the middle of it, she turned to the tech and said, "You know, in the 40 cases that I have documented like this, only 3 that I've seen have ever gotten better." She then finished the scan and said that indeed, Matilda's heart looks better than it did before. Some of the problems from before have reversed, her blood pressure has lowered, and the waveforms look a bit more normal. She seemed absolutely amazed. It was good to see, as we had sort of starting taking it for granted that they were on the road to recovery. It reminded us that these babies are truly remarkable, even at so small an age!

Our main doctor is apparently in Michigan so we did not get to talk to him this afternoon. The cardiologist was trying to get him on his cell, but he was probably off hiking some mountain or something. As a consequence, no one told us when our next appointment is, but it is likely to be early next week. Monday should be a bit strange though as Jon will go back home to work for the week. I'm sure Jessie will be very relieved to see him. I guess we'll just have to share him for a while. We have locked in all the hotel reservations and things though so hopefully all will be well.
